As for the PC config, I don't want to go too far into just listing bits of technology, so instead I'll point you to the same resource I used: the<a href="http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/buyers-guide/2011/09/01/pc-hardware-buyer-s-guide-september-2011/2" rel="nofollow">Bit-Tech Buyers' Guide</a>. I went with the "Affordable All-Rounder" as a framework for my build, which gave me a decent price/performance ratio. I didn't stick 100% to it, so do look in the comments there and take a look around a few other places as well for any other advice. One thing I will say is don't get the CPU fan that they recommend. The mounting frame is far to weak to hold the weight of the fan and heatsink, which caused to shear in several places and come right off the CPU, nearly damaging other components as well. Nightmare.
